HISTORY OF CHRIST CHURCH SCHOOL

2010

In May 2010, the school took out a lease on an abandoned allotment between the houses of 18 and 29 Fownes Street.

Then in July 2010, the garden was blessed by the vicar and the school was supported by another local parish, St Luke's, who helped the school to develop the garden.

This area of land became known as ‘The Secret Garden’ where Christ Church School, in partnership with The Royal Horticultural Society, could develop horticultural skills and use the garden to deliver the school curriculum.

The garden enabled the school to provide more opportunities for outdoor learning and inspired parents and the local community to get involved too.
