HISTORY OF CHRIST CHURCH SCHOOL

1991

 

In 1991, the school celebrated its 125th anniversary.

The celebrations included the planting of commemorative trees with local MP John Bowis OBE, a thanksgiving service where each child was presented with a commemorative mug, a street party, a disco, an assortment of games and a special display describing the history of the school.

The tree planting ceremony involved Class 3 acting out ‘The Story of The Oak Tree’, Class 1, 2 and 4 performing dances and Class 5 performing a Maypole Dance.

  HISTORY OF CHRIST CHURCH SCHOOL THANKSGIVING SERVICE On Tuesday, 23rd July 2024, at 9:15am, a thanksgiving service was held at Christ Church and St. Stephen’s, Cabul Road, London, SW11 2PN, to mark the closure of the school.   The event celebrated the rich history and cherished memories of Christ Church CE Primary School, both past and present.   The service included: Readings, prayers and psalms given by Father Geoffrey Prayers of Thanksgiving written by the children of Christ Church School Hymns such as ‘Here I Am Lord’, ‘Father We Adore You’, ‘Holy Holy’, ‘As The Deer’ and ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful' An invitation to Holy Communion A procession of crosses with children carrying them down the aisle to the altar, with one of these crosses which previously hung in the school hall being passed over to a pupil of Sacred Heart RC Primary School who formally attended Christ Church School The headteacher Mrs Colette Morris addressing...
